For too long, we've been sold the myth that purpose is something fixed and unchanging - something we must discover early and pursue relentlessly. Hey friends, welcome back to the show. I'm so happy that you're here, thank you for tuning in and, if you haven't already, be sure to rate and review the show and share this podcast with a friend. April is National Minority Health Month, so before we jump into today's topic, I want to share a quick wellness tip that aligns with the episode and that is advocate for your health. Just as purpose evolves, so does our health. This is your friendly reminder to schedule those checkups and speak up about medical concerns. Be proactive in doctor's appointments, not passive. Ask questions, seek second opinions and ensure your concerns are heard.
Aliya Cheyanne:So what do you do when your purpose feels unclear? How can you move forward when you're unsure about what's next? Trust me, I know firsthand the frustration of feeling directionless. Sometimes it feels like we've got it all figured out and we know exactly what lies ahead, and then maybe things change personally. And then maybe things change personally or professionally, and it throws everything off course. Sometimes we can feel so sure and so clear and so committed about what our purpose is and then, as we get deeper and deeper in the weeds, perhaps things change. Perhaps we learn new things about ourselves and what we thought was our purpose, perhaps things become more unclear, but I wanna hone in on that word unclear, because purpose isn't always clear, and that's okay. Now we've talked about this on the show in the past. Sometimes our purpose evolves, sometimes our purpose Now. We've talked about this on the show in the past, that sometimes our purpose evolves, sometimes things change, sometimes our dreams change, and it's crucial that we always remember that your purpose is always unfolding, it is always evolving. It's not fixed, although this isn't true for everyone. The beauty of this day and age is that we are living longer than some of our foremothers and forefathers. We have whole lives ahead of us many of us to pivot, to change, to evolve, to redirect, to reinvent ourselves as many times as we want to. Once upon a time, you had to accomplish everything you were ever going to accomplish accomplish, probably around the age of 30. Today, we're looking ahead to our 70s, our 80s, our 90s and our 100s. This gives us space to grow, evolve and adapt. This gives us opportunity for our vision to change. This allows us the expansiveness to change our minds when certain things aren't working anymore or when we feel like exploring something new.
Aliya Cheyanne:Now, at the time of this recording, I've spent most of my professional life in the non-profit sector. For a long time, I was so certain that that is exactly what my purpose was, and nothing more. Stay focused, stay the course. Create and implement programs to support vulnerable populations, project manage and administrate funding resources to support the needs of people from various life circumstances, develop comprehensive communication strategies for policy, for community events, for social media campaigns and beyond. Now, those are a lot of things and those are important things, but those aren't the only things I was meant to do. Those aren't the only things that I'm here to complete Today.
Aliya Cheyanne:My purpose has evolved into other things. My purpose has evolved into my creativity, using my voice, using the power of my tongue to jump on this podcast and speak to all of you. My purpose has also evolved to using the power of my pen and my writing to share a message with other women who may need to hear it. My purpose has evolved to consulting with different organizations and supporting various and supporting visionaries, and supporting visionaries in various capacities to help bring their ideas to life in sustainable ways. Who knows what my purpose will be a year from now, five years from now, five years from now, 10 years from now and beyond, if I'm blessed to live that long. I also know that, spiritually, my purpose is deeply tied to becoming an exceptional, powerful and an amazing Ancestor Sunday, but that that won't be possible until I complete my work here on earth. Part of my purpose is allowing myself to be used in the healthy ways that make sense to further my own mission and to support the advancement of our society in whatever ways that I can contribute. Purpose is expanding, purpose is ever-evolving, purpose is ever-changing and it's okay to be completely clear on what that is for you in this season and know that if it changes or if it shifts in the future, you've done nothing wrong. No, you haven't failed. You've adapted, you've grown, you've learned something new, you've pivoted and you've answered the call of your season.
Aliya Cheyanne:For any of us who are unsure about what our purpose is and just not clear, I invite you to go inward, to sit still, to really think about what lights you up. Think about the things that important people and meaningful people in your life have told you you excel at, that, you're excellent at, that you're good at. Think about what tools and modalities you might be able to use to your advantage to learn more about your gifts, your skills and what energy you can harness in this lifetime to support your mission and your purpose. Look for clear signs of confirmation about what you are meant to do and, if all else fails, action creates clarity. Try new things that lead you to answers. Try sitting quietly in nature and really listening to yourself and allowing the answers to come to you. Try a guided meditation if that's your vibe. Try free or prompted journaling to help you to look inward and lead you to the answers that you seek.
Aliya Cheyanne:There are countless ways to become more clear and more aligned in what your purpose is and what exactly you're meant to do on earth and in this lifetime. You are valuable, you are important and your unique vision can only be executed and fulfilled by you. So trust that if you have the idea, if you have the vision, if you feel called that it is uniquely designed for you. I encourage you to try one small new thing this week to explore your purpose, and be sure to try out this week's wellness tip and let me know how it goes. You can share your thoughts in a review to the show or in a text to the show.
